There are a handful of different weight loss shots on the market today. At LIVation, we are proud to have offered a variety of different weight loss solutions to our clients. While all of the treatments are effective, some come with different benefits and side effects than others. Here, we break down exactly how they work, how they differ from one another, and what makes weight loss shots at our Madison, CT location so effective.
What Is GLP-1?
The first weight loss shot we started offering at LIVation was GLP-1, which remains one of our most popular treatments. Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists mimic the effects of naturally occurring GLP-1 hormone in the body which helps lower and stabilize blood sugar. This helps reduce hunger and cravings while promoting feelings of satiety after meals. When your blood sugar is stable, you’re not as hungry—and when you do get hungry, it’s not that urgent “hangry” feeling that might be familiar to you. GLP-1 also slows down your body’s ability to digest food, so you feel fuller sooner and for a longer period of time.
Though GLP-1 helps many people lose weight, it is not without side effects. It’s common to experience gastrointestinal side effects including nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and constipation, especially if you are not staying hydrated or eating smaller, cleaner meals. It’s also especially important to exercise when using GLP-1 weight loss shots.
Weight loss can negatively impact muscle mass, which is why our goal at LIVation is to have you lose half a pound to two pounds per week to help preserve lean muscle. Integrating weight training into your fitness routine not only enhances weight loss results but also helps maintain muscle mass.
What Is GLP-1/GIP?
Another shot we offer at LIVation is a GLP-1 agonist, but it is also a GIP agonist, meaning it works on both your GLP-1 receptor and gastric inhibitory polypeptide receptor. This offers the same weight loss and blood sugar-stabilizing benefits of GLP-1, but also has muscle regeneration properties in addition to reduced gastrointestinal side effects. GLP-1 and GIP are both incretin hormones which are hormones that are released after eating. Some weight loss medications work by mimicking their effects including telling the pancreas to release insulin after eating and signaling the liver to lower the amount of glucose it's making, which helps lower blood sugar. They also signal the brain to help slow down gastric emptying which decreases food intake and modulates fat utilization which leads to weight loss. Those who have plateaued with their weight loss goals using GLP-1 have found that GLP-1/GIP can get them “over the hump,” so to speak, helping them continue to lose weight.
What Is GLP-1/GIP/Glucagon (Triple G)?
Triple G is the next generation of GLP-1s—it is a triple-receptor agonist, that targets the GLP-1, GIP, and glucagon receptors. The glucagon receptor helps prevent your blood sugar from getting too low. This combination therapy results in enhanced weight loss with fewer cravings, even fewer gastrointestinal side effects (anecdotally, we’ve had none at all!), maintained muscle mass, and, most importantly, increased energy. Many patients using GLP-1 and GLP-1/GIP have reported that the medications make them feel exhausted. With Triple G, you can expect to lose weight faster while looking and feeling your best.

What to expect when you book a consultation at our CT clinic
Some of our clients lose up to 12 pounds (or more) in the first four weeks of treatment. If they’ve hit their goals after their first round of weekly weight loss shots, they may choose to off-ramp their treatment. Off-ramping allows your body time to adjust to maintain your weight loss goals. Others may continue their weight loss injections until they hit their target weight. There are clients that reach their weight loss goals and still choose to continue their treatments after they’ve hit their target weight, opting for fewer doses to help keep them on track and feeling their best. Schedule your free consultation. Contact us to set up a 30-minute consultation to determine if weight loss injections are right for you based on your medical history and weight loss goals. We’ll help you figure out which weight loss option is best for you.

Schedule your (4) weekly treatment appointments. If you’re a candidate for weight loss shots, we’ll help you schedule an injection once a week for four consecutive weeks. Each treatment will be customized to your exact needs and goals.

Your weight loss treatments begin. We inject in areas where our weight loss clients have pinchable fat, usually in the stomach area or thighs.

You'll begin to eat smaller portions and promote weight loss. You’ll notice that you’re not as hungry as you might usually be, feel more full for longer periods of time, and have diminished cravings.
